You know you're a mom when...

You know you're a mom when:

~Taking a nap trumps taking a shower.

~Thinking about food while cleaning out a poopy cloth diaper doesn't gross you out.

~You talk about yourself in third person even when the baby isn't listening.

~Going to the bathroom by yourself becomes a thing of the past.

~You can't wait for your baby's naptime so you can get a break!

Christmas Ornaments

It's October 1, and I'm talking about Christmas!  haha  My wonderful sister-in-law Katie, who was made to be a mommy, always has the most wonderful ideas to do with her little one, and I will be the first to admit that I will beg, borrow, and/or steal her ideas to use with Henry!  So when we were talking about Christmas the other week, and my concerns about Henry attacking the tree or the tree attacking Henry, she told me about some felt ornaments she bought to use on their tree.  I loved the idea!  But I couldn't find any at the store or online, so I decided to mak

Nature

Henry and I spent some time outside today because the weather was absolutely glorious, and we had a nice, cool breeze.  I put a quilt down for him to sit on, but once he got comfortable with being outside, he crawled all over the yard!

Here are some things we learned today:

~We learned about colors: "Henry, the blade of grass is green.  The sky is blue."

~We learned about texture: "Doesn't the grass tickle your toes?"

~We learned about

It's Potty Time!

No, it isn't time to potty train Henry; he just loves the toilet!  I take him with me when I go to the bathroom, because if I don't, there's just no telling where he'll be when I head back to the living room.  He'll usually play with the laundry baskets or pull himself up on the tub, but once he hears the toilet flush, he is all over that toilet!  He'll crawl between my legs, pull up on the toilet, and just stand there, patting the toilet lid.  Does he not know I can't move when he does this!?  Here are some pictures of him at the toilet.

Here he is, happily patting the toilet lid.

Revelation

I love my little Henry son.  It's 11pm, and I just laid Henry down after nursing, and it suddenly occurred to me, "Aww...I love you so much.  You are a blessing."  I don't know where it came from.  I mean, sure, I feel that way all the time, but I tend to focus on the frustrations instead of focusing on the blessings.  And for some reason, I'm focusing on the blessings of this sweet, little boy.  And all I can say is, "Thank You, God, for helping me to do that.  Help me, God, to always focus on the blessings."

Cheesin'

I have gotten very lax about taking pictures of Henry, so in an effort to rectify that, I'm trying to keep the camera close by.  Here's one I took today.  I had to use the flash because he never stays still anymore.  But it's the perfect cheesin' picture!

I could just eat him up with a spoon!  :o)

Adventures in Cloth Diapering, Part Two

Well, we have been cloth diapering Henry's butt now for two or three months, and I have to say, I'm very glad we started cloth diapering.  I only wish we had started sooner!

Since my last post about cloth diapers, John has installed a diaper sprayer for me.  I told him I wanted one for my birthday, and in short order (and a 2 hour trip to Lowes), voila!, I had a nice, new diaper sprayer.  Looking back, I

Salmon Patties and Bath Bubbles

I decided to make salmon patties tonight for supper.  We're running out of food, and I haven't been to the grocery store, so I needed something fairly quick that didn't require tons of ingredients!  I had never made salmon patties before, but we use to eat them all the time when I was a kid, and they're really good.  So I called my daddy to find out what he did to make them.  Here they are cooking.

While I cooked them (and some broccoli,) Henry play

Pretty Picture!

Here's a painting that my mom did a couple years ago.  My mom began taking watercolor classes several years ago, and she's very talented at it!  This one is called "Tree of Life," and it's almost like a Where's Waldo of sorts.  There are animals and nests in the tree; it's really cool!  It reminds me of stained glass, plus it looks great in my dining room!
