New Watch

John gave me a new watch yesterday.  The battery in my old watch ($10 at Wal-mart) had died Saturday, and I hadn't been able to get to Wal-mart to get another watch battery.

It's a nice watch, too.  It's a Fossil brand, which is a good brand.  They are quite expensive, and normally I would pitch a fit at John spending that kind of money on something as simple as a watch.  But he didn't spend any money on it.

How is that, you might be wondering.  Here's how: John will celebrate his 5 years with Duke Energy at the end of February, and so he got to pick some gift out of a catalog for his anniversary of employment.  He could have chosen anything, but he decided to get something for me.  Some people would think he was being cheap, but I find it very sweet and thoughtful.  He is always putting others' needs about his own.

The watch is pretty, AND it even tells what day of the week it is.  This didn't used to be a big deal, but now that I've had a child and my memory is about as long as a goldfish's, I sometimes get confused about what day it is.  Like this morning, I figured out it was Wednesday, but then convinced myself it was Thursday and got all excited because The Office comes on, before realizing it wasn't Thursday after all.  See how helpful the date will be on my watch!?

I married such a wonderful man; I am so blessed!

Dearest Laura,  Your new

Dearest Laura,

Your new watch is beautiful!  I am so glad that you found a husband who is as kind, thoughtful and unselfish as you.  I didn't know there was anyone else who could have those wonderful personal qualities (as you have always had), but it looks like you found each other!  Enjoy the watch and wear it with pride!  I love you, Henry and John so much! Love forever, Mom
