Mwah

This is too cute not to share:

Last night, as Henry was nursing before bed, he suddenly unlatched and looked at me with pursed lips.  It took me a minute to figure out what he wanted, but then it hit me--he wants to give me a kiss!  So I leaned my face down to him and he kissed my cheek.  Then he smiled and latched back on.

My precious boy, I love you so.

Attachment Parenting--Is This Me?

The longer I am a mom, the more I am beginning to think that I am more of an Attachment Parenting parent than I thought I was or ever would be.  I always associated attachment parenting with people who co-slept with their babies for years and years or parents who gave in to their child's every whim.  I definitely didn't want to be seen as someone who practiced attachment parenting.

But, the more I think about the last almost-16 months (crazy how time flies), the more I see that my instinct was to be more of an attachment parent.  Here are the 7 B's of attachment

What Are You Known For?

Here is the transcript of the devotion I am planning to do Sunday for Youth Day.

What are we known for?  Sometimes, it's for our cooking skills, or lack thereof.  Sometimes we're known for telling funny jokes or for telling really cheesy jokes.  We can be known for how we dress or how we drive or how well we play sports.

We can also be known for different things based on the hat we wear.  When I wear the wife hat, I'm known for my cooking.  When I wear the mom hat, I'm known for kissing boo-boos and comforting my little guy.&n

The Fog Has Lifted

I have been such a terrible, neglectful blogger the last two weeks!  Please forgive me, dear readers.

Here's what we've been up to lately:

~Henry is up to 12 teeth.  This time last month, he had like 8 of them or something.  Lots of dirty diapers and fussiness has ensued.

~Henry likes to dance.  If he's laying on the changing table, and I sing to him, he wiggles his upper body.  If he's sitting in a grocery cart, and a song with a funky beat is playing over their speakers, he will wiggle his upper body, but he leaves his head in the same

Belly Button

Henry has found his umbilicus, that little remnant of our time where we literally were a part of each other.  In other words, he knows where his belly button is!  It is so cute.  When you ask him, "Henry, where is your belly button?" he lifts up his shirt and eventually gets around to pointing to his belly button.  I could just eat that kid with a spoon.

Here is a link to the video of it: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RzzQbYvgAXc.

La Dee Dah

So, I've been sitting here listening to Matt Maher's "Hold Us Together" now for at least 30 minutes, hitting play every time the song ends.  Here is the link to the song: www.youtube.com/watch

I do that when I like something: I replay it and replay it ad nauseum.  But the song reminds me of our youth group at church.  I want this song to be what my youth group thinks about when they think about the youth group.  *oops, song ended, had to hit replay*  Tomorrow, all the youth girls and I are going to Goo

Nursing Cover

Okay, so I've never actually done this before: stump for someone else's blog.  BUT, I have a VERY good reason for it.  You see, Breastfeeding Moms Unite (http://www.breastfeedingmomsunite.com/2010/03/review-and-giveaway-bebe-au-lait-nursing-cover/comment-page-1/#comment-4381) is giving away a free Bebe Au Lait nursing cover, and I'm trying to enter the giveaway as much as possible.  Why, you ask?  Well, I'll tell you: my wonderful s

Bushwhacked

Yesterday, I annihilated the bush in front of our living room window.  John should never have told me where the clippers were for it.  What started out as an eight foot tall bush (at least) is now about a foot tall.  It blocked the light into the living room, and made it dark in there.  Plus it needed to be trimmed anyway.  So while Henry played outside, I showed that bush who was boss!  :o)

It was pretty much like doing one of those butterfly presses at the gym for 45 minutes yesterday.  When I woke up this morning my arms hurt BAD...like bad enou

Quiet

Well, I haven't blogged in a while, but that's because I really don't have anything much to say.

So, here is a new picture of Henry.  Sorry it's blurry.

And here is a picture of my hair post-haircut.  I had my hair cut this past Wednesday, the 10th.  It is much easier to take care of now!

Hope everyone has a great weekend!  Maybe I will have more to say next week...

Confessions of a Reluctant Homeschool Parent

Yes, you read that right.  Next year I will homeschooling the girl I am tutoring one-on-one at the Christian school this year.  She will be living with us during the school year.  Her grandparents are also going to give us parental rights, so we are kinda sorta adopting her.

Anyway, that's beside the point I'm trying to make here.

The point I'm trying to make is that we will be homeschooling her, but I can't say that I'm super excited about it.  I know God wants us to do this for her, so it's not that I doubt or question His calling.
